Brittney Nelson (she/her), Occupational Therapy Assistant

Brittney Nelson is an Oregon native who graduated from Portland State University with a B.S. in Psychology and Communications after which she received her Associates of Applied Science in Occupational Therapy from Linn-Benton Community College.

She has experience working with children in an outpatient setting, the geriatric population in memory care, acute care, and home health. She chose Occupational Therapy because of the holistic approach it takes towards therapy. She believes that ‘regulation before expectation’ should be an integral part of therapy.

Brittney believes in therapy that promotes functional skills that will bring increased ease to children’s everyday life. She utilizes a strengths-based approach towards therapy as she has seen the most progress through this approach. She believes that through support, connection, and open communication, children and families can rise to their full potential.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time outdoors, being with her family, reading, listening to podcasts, and caring for her pets.

Brittney's treatment area includes the greater Salem area, outlying rural areas, Corvallis, and Albany.

Leslie Talarico (she/her), Certified Occupational Therapy As

As a pediatric therapist I bring a true respect of children and family systems to my work.  My background thus far has been in outpatient clinic pediatrics and school based therapy..  I've been drawn to feeding therapy and took the SOS feeding course and certification and I've learned quite a bit as the lead assistive tech OTP in my school settings.  I love learning and spend a lot of time on my drives listening to podcasts in order to stay up to date on best practices for Neurodiversity supportive treatments.

While I grew up all over the place, I've been in the PNW since 2000.  My husband and I graduated from the Evergreen State College in Olympia WA and spent over 10 years in Washington before moving to Portland.  In my free time I help people learn to ride and interact with horses, I'm a huge horse nerd!  With friends and family I like to engage in hiking, rockhounding, learning about birds, eating lots of good food(and cooking it when time allows), and generally exploring the PNW.  I take a true bread and roses approach to life, appreciating time for arts of all kind and the simpler pleasures like a cozy coffee on the couch with my dog in the morning.

Leslie serves the Northeast to North Central side of Portland, as well as the Gresham area.

Mandy Martini OTR/L (she/her), Lead Occupational Therapist

Hi, I’m Mandy Martini, and I’m a Pediatric Occupational Therapist who has been working in the field for 11 years, with the last eight years in pediatrics.

I received my Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, and practiced in Washington state and California before moving to Oregon two years ago.

I have worked in clinics, schools, and home- and community-based settings and have a passion for working with kids and families in the environment where they spend most of their time or where they are experiencing challenges. My most recent trainings have focused on providing trauma-informed care, neurodiversity-affirming practices and strengths-based approaches, working with individuals with a PDA profile (Pathological Demand Avoidance or Persistent Drive for Autonomy), responsive feeding techniques, building interoceptive awareness, and parent education and coaching around co-regulation and sensory supports.

I believe strongly that children (and all people!) can only learn when feeling safe, secure, and regulated, and this drives my therapeutic process. I follow my client’s lead and build in learning opportunities at their pace and as their nervous system allows. Therapy is a tool to develop strategies and supports for children and families that can involve modifying the activities or environments, in addition to building skills for the child or personal supports. I believe strongly in building a better world that is more accessible to people of all abilities!

Outside of work, I enjoy chasing after two very active boys with my husband both on the sports field and while exploring this beautiful state. I love to read, travel, volunteer in my community, and run. I’m currently training for my first marathon!

My treatment areas include the Greater Salem area, Monmouth, Independence, and Dallas.

Colleen Gannon, OTR/L

Colleen was born and raised in Philadelphia and currently lives in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Colleen received a bachelor's degree in exercise science from West Chester University in West Chester, PA and went on to earn her Masters in Occupational Therapy at Salus University in Elkins Park, PA. Colleen’s passion for working with the pediatric population started early, as she has over 15 years of experience working with children of all ages and neuro-types. During high school Colleen was a swim instructor for children of all ages and during her undergraduate and graduate education she spent time nannying infants/children. As an occupational therapist, Colleen has experience across a variety of settings including early intervention, school-based, and outpatient clinics. Colleen has focused much of her continuing education on neurodiversity-affirming and strengths-based practice, trauma-informed care, primitive reflexes, and sensory integration. Colleen completed her Interactive Metronome Certification and has taken DIR courses with ICDL. Colleen prioritizes getting to know each individual child and family. She believes creating a feeling of safety with children is the foundation for learning and growth. Colleen is grateful to work with families to empower their children to build on their strengths and reach their full potential.

Karen Klanica, OTR/L

I am a licensed occupational therapist with over 30 years of experience across diverse settings, including inpatient rehab, home care, and the school environment. I am deeply committed to understanding the whole person, helping them work towards their goals, and ultimately improving their quality of life. My holistic approach focuses not just on the physical aspects, but also on emotional and environmental factors that can influence well-being.

Currently, I reside in Virginia with my husband and two dogs, and I’m thrilled about the opportunity to provide telehealth services and meet the needs of clients in the Portland area. Outside of work, I enjoy staying active through exercise and kayaking, nurturing my love of gardening, crocheting, and cherishing quality time with my family.
