Time and Space

Considerations

As you may already know, the model we provide is very rare. To our knowledge, we are the only multidisciplinary therapy practice of our kind in the entire state of Oregon! 


But, consider that we are limited by time and space since we provide therapy in real life. This means that our clinicians are able to complete an average of 7 therapy sessions in one day compared to many clinics, where patients are scheduled back-to-back without time between sessions and clinicians must complete upwards of 12 therapy sessions per day. Our clinicians' caseload sizes are smaller due to travel considerations, and we are therefore able to see fewer patients in a day as compared to clinics and hospitals.


Does this mean that our wait times for new patients could be longer than in clinics and hospitals? Interestingly, our wait times are similar to clinics and way less than hospitals! This is because the need in the community is just so big and Oregon has a significant lack of therapy providers- for literally all therapy disciplines. 


In Reach Therapy is acutely aware of this and is actively working to advocate, not just locally, but with state legislation, to help identify effective recruitment and training programs to hopefully alleviate the access to care burden we are all facing in this state. Some of the practice-centered plans we have are to develop accessible group treatment, caregiver training and support groups, and other larger-scale solutions to augment the one-on-one care we currently provide. We are with you, and we are trying.

How long is your waitlist?

This can be incredibly difficult to predict, as openings are matched based on geographic location for home-based 1:1 services. 


 We typically see spots organically open within 12 - 16 weeks for home-based 1:1 services. 


Our other service offerings such as:

  •  consultation and education
  • support groups
  • group treatment 


- are in development and will become available in the coming months. These services will be more immediately available than home-based 1:1 services and hold solid value in client-centered care.


We are developing these services in response to significant community need that remains unmet across our region for virtually all practices. There is a shortage of therapy providers everywhere, which means that we all need to get creative and lean on partnerships to serve the need. 



Also note for 1:1 home-based services: 


Time of year may affect our availability. For example, we typically see schedule transitions at the beginning of the summer and the start of the school year. We see lulls in availability over the winter season.


Our clinical team makes matches based on the following: 

  • Geographical area or acceptance of teletherapy
  • Individual's availability for treatment (days/times)
  • Clinical need

  • Submit an interest form from the top of any page on our website. 


  • You will receive weekly emails inquiring if you would like to remain on our list.

  •  Our waitlist database is a mapped representation. This is because location is the first consideration for our in-person services.


  • The maps are presented to clinicians according to submission date, but no one is assigned a "number" on our waitlist.

  • You will receive a text and email when a match is made.


  • Please respond to this message within 48 hours to claim your spot. 


  • By replying with 'yes', you will indicate that you want to move forward with a consult.

  • Speak directly with the therapist you've matched with and schedule the initial evaluation. 


  • Our front office staff will take care of any prior auth requests, and help you complete intake paperwork via our online messaging portal.
