Hello! My name is Alyssa Angueira (she/her), and I have been a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant for the past 7 years. Originally from Southern California, I have been in Oregon now for 2 years. I have been providing services, in both English and Spanish in the Salem area. I have had the pleasure of working in homes and in the clinical setting.
I found a passion in this career after observing a Speech Pathologist when I was only in high school. From then, I went on to get my bachelors at Loma Linda University, in Southern California.
Throughout my career I have had the blessing of working with individuals of all ages, and across all walks of life. In my work, I have found a passion in bridging the gap for the Spanish speaking community and speech therapy services. As a bilingual therapist, I try my best to provide resources, further education for parents and support to the community.
As I have continued down this path, I have found that building relationships with individuals, their families and collaboration with other professionals, have been key components in an individual's steps towards progress! I am an advocate of “teamwork” and making sure that all parties are on the same page for what is beneficial and supportive to an individual.
When I am not working with families, my partner and I love to spend time playing board games or trying out new and yummy recipes. We have a Pug named Frida, who also enjoys spending time cuddling during board game time, napping or begging for snacks. As a transplant, I also enjoy getting to explore the beauty of Oregon and enjoy all the delicious local food spots!
Hello! My name is Ashley Heath (she/they), and I’m an Oregon licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP).
I’m originally from San Luis Obispo, California, but I had the amazing opportunity to move to Portland for graduate school. I obtained my Master of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences from Portland State University in 2022 with a Spanish-English bilingual concentration.
Since graduate school, I have gained clinical experience working with monolingual and bilingual children with a variety of needs and backgrounds in various settings, such as Shriner’s Hospital for Children, private outpatient clinics, and schools. I also have presented on the topic of “Working with bilingual children with CAS (Childhood Apraxia of Speech)” at national conferences, such as the ASHA Convention and the Apraxia Kids National Conference.
As someone who is autistic and has ADHD, I have a passion for working with the neurodivergent population, and I am a strong advocate for neurodiversity affirming practices! I believe that neurodivergence by itself is not a flaw that needs to be corrected, but instead a neurotype that needs to be empowered and embraced. I feel passionately that our neurodivergent patients deserve care that protects their autonomy and human rights. As an SLP, I always try to consider the neurodivergent patient's individual needs and incorporate them into therapy. When it comes to therapy, my motto is “connection over compliance,” meaning I prioritize building relationships with my patients over compliant behavior.
When I don’t have my SLP hat on, you can find me exploring Portland with my partner and dog, taking dance classes and performing at local studios, or enjoying a delicious cup of coffee at my neighborhood coffee shop.
I look forward to serving you and the community as your SLP!
Hi there! I'm Bethany Laratta, a pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist who stutters based in the Portland Metro area. I moved to Oregon from Illinois to pursue my master's degree at Pacific University, and I've been serving the local community since 2021.
As a clinician, I specialize in child-led and play-based therapy for a wide range of speech and language disorders. I believe that fostering connections with my clients is key to creating a naturalistic, positive, and engaging therapy environment. I'm passionate about collaborating with caregivers and other professionals to provide interdisciplinary care that truly meets the needs of each child. As a person who stutters, I'm particularly aware of the social-emotional impacts of neurodiversity and communication differences, and I work hard to provide personalized, affirming care to each of my clients.
Beyond my clinical work, I'm deeply involved in the stuttering community both locally and nationally. I co-lead the National Stuttering Association's Portland chapter, and I serve on the board of Camp More, a nonprofit organization that provides support and community for kids and teens who stutter. I'm committed to creating safe spaces for people to share their experiences and feel more comfortable stuttering around others.
In my free time, I love to explore the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest through hiking, camping, foraging, biking, and kayaking with my fiancé. Portland's vibrant food scene and outdoor markets are always a treat, too!
Hi there! I'm Callye Hansen, a licensed pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist, who will be completing my Clinical Fellowship Year with In Reach Speech. I completed both my undergraduate degree and graduate school education at the University of Florida, graduating with a Master of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2022. During my time there, I gained extensive experience working with both the pediatric and adult populations in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings. As a graduate student, I had the opportunity to work in a charter school which served students with various learning difficulties, an outpatient pediatric rehabilitation clinic, an acute care hospital, and an early intervention agency for infants and toddlers. I have experience working with individuals who have various diagnoses such as autism spectrum disorder, receptive and expressive language disorder, articulation/phonological disorder, Down syndrome, and ADHD.
As an SLP, there are so many reasons why I love working with the pediatric population. Being able to empower children and help them communicate is very rewarding and is what makes me passionate about what I do. As a therapist, I try to select individualized therapy materials and provide tools and resources that address the specific needs of the child and their family. I believe that collaboration and teamwork can make a huge difference in helping children and families reach their goals. With home-based therapy, I am especially looking forward to working with children and their caregivers in their natural and familiar environment.
When I am not working, I enjoy reading, crocheting, thrifting, longboarding, listening to music, and spending time outdoors. I also love finding new coffee shops, searching for children’s books, and creating therapy materials in my free time. I am very excited to relocate from Florida to Portland and to join the In Reach Speech team!
Hello! I have been a practicing pediatric speech and language pathologist in the Portland metro area since 2009. I moved here from Wisconsin, where I grew up and went to school, for the Leadership Education and Neurodevelopmental Disabilities Fellowship at the Child Development and Rehabilitation Center (CDRC) and never left. At the CDRC, I gained experience working on several interdisciplinary teams (e.g., Feeding, Craniofacial, Autism, Down Syndrome, NICU) and honed my diagnostic skills. After my fellowship, I transitioned to a non-profit pediatric outpatient clinic where I worked with a variety of speech and language disorders. I developed an interest in language-based literacy intervention and began supporting reading, writing, and spelling skills. In 2014, I became the SLP at Tucker Maxon School, a private school in SE Portland that provides specialized supports for children who are deaf and hard of hearing and learning to listen and talk. I became a certified Listening and Spoken Language Specialist, Auditory-Verbal Educator in 2018 and went on to work at a clinic focused on serving children who are deaf and hard of hearing.
I have a passion for collaborating with caregivers as I view caregivers as their child's primary teachers. As a parent who has participated in speech and language therapy for my own daughter, my goal is to make therapeutic activities fun, functional, and doable. I truly love talking to kids. It is not hard for me to find something magical and exciting about each child I work with. It's an honor to be welcomed into any child's life and to help them grow and learn. I'm comfortable working with children and families in-person and via teletherapy.
I enjoy mentoring graduate students and fellows and work with a few different organizations that support children who are deaf and hard of hearing and their families. Outside of work, my nights and weekends are spent with my husband and 3 year-old daughter cooking, playing at parks and having fun at home. I am looking forward to returning to some beloved activities like rock climbing, reading for fun, fiddling, and knitting when time allows.
Hello! My name is Jordyn and I have been a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist since 2021. I was born and raised in Oregon before moving to Utah for two years to pursue graduate school. I received my Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology with a medical emphasis from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in 2021. Previously, I attended Portland State University where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Hearing Sciences in 2018.
Throughout my time as a SLP, I have had the opportunity to work in both skilled-nursing facilities and the private practice setting. However, my experience goes beyond these two settings through my time in graduate school where I had the opportunity to work in acute care, home health, and the school setting diagnosing and treating individuals with a wide range of diagnoses.
Clinical interests of mine include speech and language disorders, aphasia, feeding/swallowing, and orofacial myology. I am a huge advocate of child-led play and using evidence based practice throughout every therapy session. I work hard to find treatment that fits the needs of every individual. I strive to make each therapy session fun and engaging while also working closely with caregivers to provide thorough education and coaching to assure carryover of skills.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our three fur/reptile animals, Pretzel, Rexx, and Dimitri who is a tortoise! I also love to be outdoors, garden, shop for new plants, and am always looking for new and yummy places to eat!
